2) Get Serious About combating White Supremacy.

Malcolm X warned us long ago that America’s racism was leading America,”up the suicidal path, nearer to the precipice that leads to the bottomless pits below.” What better indication is this than Donald J. Trump being elected president? Donald J. Trump  is a man with zero qualifications for political office. He has numerous character defects and he is totally lacking the temperate required to even be an effective commander in chief.  Yet Trump’s became president by appealing to the bigotries and prejudices of the white masses. Put bluntly, Donald. J. Trump will be the next president of the United States due to white supremacy. Brother Saif Omar stated:

I also wonder if we had reduced the number of madrassas pumping out mostly irrelevant and culturally illiterate muftis (many exceptions of course, and all due respect to those) and built a Malcolm X university for preachers and deeply rooted social justice activists, if this election would have been different.

We need islamic schools and institutions seriously dedicated to fighting white supremacy.  We need students of knowledge studying white supremacy as a political arrangement and examining  Dr. Sherman Jackson’s writings on white supremacy is the beginning of modern day shirk.   We need folks studying the nuances of white supremacy and understanding how it morphs by reading the works of Charles Mill’s in  The Racial Contract.  We need khutbas in the tradition of Malcolm X to mobilize and energize communities to be at the forefront of racial justice.

We need to use Trump’s presidency as a wake up call. Black people in America have lived under oppression for over four hundred years. Many Immigrant Muslim communities in the pursuit of the American dream and aspirational  whiteness have not been as vigilant as they should be about confronting white supremacy.  In fact, many  Muslims have played into the politics of respectability  and have sought to appease the white power structure. The time to change this has come.  Muslims need to increase their support for MUSLIMARC(Muslim antiracism) which is dedicated to providing resources and trainings to further racial justice.  Lastly, build coalitions with other oppressed communities and organize against the oppressive policies that Trump will inevitably implement against people of color.
