Truth to Power
Imam Siraj Wahaj
Reflecting on this historic occasion, Imam Siraj Wahaj, the founder of Masjid al-Taqwa in Brooklyn and a pillar of the American Muslim community said he was on front row security. Giving his thoughts during this event, Imam Siraj Wahaj states:
“One by one all of the national leaders give their leadership to him(Imam W.D). I’m sitting there listening because there is one person I have not heard from yet. My Minister. Who is my minister? Minister Louis Farrakhan. The National Spokesman for Mr. Elijah Muhammad didn’t speak yet. The Minister over Harlem masjid# 7 didn’t speak yet. So the last person to speak was Minister Farrakhan. I remember what I was saying in my heart: I’m not going anywhere until I hear from my minister. Minister Farrakhan came on and said, “The Honorable Elijah Muhammad is the will of Allah and his son Wallace Muhammad is the will of Allah.”
Though recounting the events decades later, Imam Siraj Wahaj quotes Minister Farrakhan exactly.
