God & Comics invited me on to discuss webcomics

I had a lot of fun spending an hour with God and Comics’ three nerdy priests as we discussed the way comics change when they move online, our favorite weird niche strips made possible by the internet, and different stories’ different views of what it means to be a hero.

• Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang (graphic novel, two linked stories set in China’s Boxer Rebellion, one about a rebel, one about a Christian convert)
• Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddell (webcomic, serial, give it a couple chapters for art and story to get wonderful)
• Existential Comics (webcomic, one-shots,  nerdy philosophy jokes)
• Strong Female Protagonist by Brennan Lee Mulligan, drawn by Molly Ostertag (webcomic, serial, explores the limits of solving problems by punching really hard, book one is available to order)
• Through the Woods by Emily Carroll (webcomic and book collection, scary short stories — try “His Face All Red”)
