“Now is not the end,” Winston Churchill said in Nov. 1942. “It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
Is Avengers End Game won’t be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, of course. But it does mark an end of something, and likely the end of a few of our favorite superheroes to make way for others. And the beginning of the end–or the end of the beginning–officially started this morning, with the release of the first trailer of Avengers End Game.
“Don’t feel sad about this,” Tony Stark–the guy who jumpstarted the MCU–tells Pepper Potts via his battered Iron Man helmet. “Part of the journey is the end.”
We never want good stories to end. But ends are, inherently, the beginning of something else. Might be one of the reasons my favorite Chronicles of Narnia book was The Last Battle: It was so sad, and yet but it finishes with an understanding that the bigger story goes on.
Let me be a fanboy for a moment and admit … I can’t wait to see this.
