Back When We Had Slaves, Unity, and Greatness

Back When We Had Slaves, Unity, and Greatness December 8, 2017

“I think [America] was great at the time when families were united — even though we had slavery — they cared for one another…. Our families were strong, our country had a direction.” – Roy Moore to a Black man

At no point during four centuries of the North American slave trade was America “great,” or anything more than a terrorist regime.

And yet, that is the “great” America pedophile Roy Moore, self-proclaimed President Pu**y Grabber™️, the RNC, and 81% of white evangelicals want to return us to:

The days of white families unifying around a table built by slaves, in a house built and maintained by slaves, eating food planted, harvested, and prepared by slaves, while slaves would whither and rot in their holding cells slaves quarters or suffer unthinkable violence for daring to assert their own God-breathed humanity by demanding and taking better for themselves.

Sit with this, white people:

This is who we are and choose to be.

"even if you don't believe in trans people having legit reasons to identify that way ..."

  • Venting is fine but your comments are offensive.

This country is the greatest country in the history of the world. Slavery was practiced the world over and still is in certain countries. Be grateful you don’t live in one of them! In point of fact, “620,000 American soldiers died in the Civil War” righting that wrong. You are criticizing history as if conservatives, evangelicals and white people should be punished for that period in history. Our ancestors fought and died in that war to stop slavery. Shame on you.

The DNC is loaded with rapists and sexual abusers now coming out weekly; the most famous of whom is Bill Clinton and his chief enabler, the Great Criminal, Hillary.

  • Epolimus

This country will never be “great” as long as many of it’s citizens are treated as less than equal to the controlling class. It’s funny that you run to Bill Clinton as an example of a sexual abuser when your president is a proud, self-proclaimed sexual abuser.

How about instead of saying “be grateful you don’t live in a shittier country than America” you recognize the fact that there is much that is keeping this country from being great, and work toward changing that.
Your attitude and shallow response shows that you really are not concerned with how people are treated, but only about how you identify with those people you feel are being attacked.

America can be the greatest country in the world, but it won’t be by sweeping things under the rug, or trying to shame those who are speaking out against injustice and evil.

Shame on you, for your deflecting to being offended by this person pointing out the truth.

  • There is no controlling class in America.
Bill Clinton raped Juanita Broaddrick. It is what I was referring to about Hillary.
My President is your President – ouch that must hurt.
You live in self-pity. Whatever is wrong here can be changed. Not so everywhere else.
I’m shallow? Then what are you?
The author’s comments are outrageous. I am simply pointing that out for her.

  • Arlene Adamo

White families were only “unifying around a table” in the movies. In reality, the not so devoted husbands and fathers were going outside of their marriages and sexually assaulting the women in their capture then selling their own sons and daughters on the markets. Also, the moral toll it takes on the human psyche to engage in something has low and disgusting as slavery, (especially the slavery in the US that specialized in an historically unprecedented form of brutality and oppression), means that the white people would be suffering from all sorts of mental illnesses. Those families would be extremely dysfunctional.

  • Epolimus

You say they are outrageous, but I think they are true. You are offended more by her comments then by the very real effects of racism in America?
“Our” current president has been accused of rape, and sexual assault by seventeen or so women. Is that insignificant to you?

As far as you “pointing that out for her”, that statement sums up exactly what you are all about. You presume that you know what is right, and I must insist that you do not. Stop trying to tell everyone who speaks out about injustice how they are wrong. Especially the women. Do I think you are a chauvinist male? Mayne I do, maybe I’m wrong. I will tell you that you are certainly not the arbiter of what is and what is not outrageous.

The one thing we agree on is that whatever is wrong here can be fixed, but not by shaming those who speak out about the wrongs.

  • Racism in America is just the vehicle in Democrat politics by which the Left and the Progressives and the Media ( which is the real Progressive Party) has used to destroy people they don’t like. Meanwhile the people in the Democrat controlled cities like Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia are left to deal with their poverty by their elected Democrat officials. This is disgraceful. These people now feel they are victims when in fact they are pawns in a political game. Slavery is just a “dog whistle” used to fire up these voters because otherwise they have no reason to vote Democrat do they? The very real effects of racism are small compared to the effects of the very real conduct of the people who sell drugs to each other, murder each other and abort their children like feces in our large Democrat controlled cities. Quit blaming others and look inward.

Sexual harassment is a real issue unlike slavery and it knows no political labels. This issue has snared many on both sides and finally the Clintons have been exposed for what they are. Thirty years of covering for them has been stopped by the conduct of their admitted perverts like Conyers and Franken.

The author of this blog, Amy Courts, has her opinion and I have mine. We disagree on her core beliefs (shown below) which are just expressions of the current Progressive nightmare that has infected this country:

“I believe: Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA rights are human rights, First Nations know and protect the earth, Immigrants are America, Refugees are Welcome, and people of all and no religions have deep wisdom for us.

I am not shaming her rather I am disagreeing with her.

  • Your comment, “especially the slavery in the US that specialized in an historically unprecedented form of brutality and oppression”, is not true. Many sources disagree with you. Here is one:

    Michael Medved |Posted: Sep 26, 2007 12:14 PM
“Unfortunately, the current mania for exaggerating America’s culpability for the horrors of slavery bears no more connection to reality than the old, discredited tendency to deny that the U.S. bore any blame at all.”

  • Epolimus

Well Bob you are trying to shame her. You said so yourself. You are also mansplaining to her, and now to me, all about “the democrats” and how slavery isn’t a real issue, it’s just a dog whistle to get votes.

Then you continue with the sexual harassment excuse as to why you need to show us the real truth.

So, let’s pretend you are only disagreeing with her, and tell me now please, should our president step down seeing he is an admitted sexual predator, which, as you yourself claim, is a very real issue, unlike hundreds of years of slavery, which according to you is not an issue, and couldn’t possibly have any residual affect?

Please guide and enlighten those of us who are less knowledgeable than yourself.

This statement tells me everything I need to know about the present condition of your heart: “The very real effects of racism are small compared to the effects of the very real conduct of the people who sell drugs to each other, murder each other and abort their children like feces in our large Democrat controlled cities. Quit blaming others and look inward.”

Medved is not considered an expert on American slavery. He is not educated in this area and is only a pop radio host for an entertainment show that caters to a specific audience. He also has a reputation for his vocal ignorance on this particular topic.

Admitting that the United States has participated in terrible crimes against humanity does not mean you don’t love your country. It means you love it enough to change it for the better. It’s called progress, and countries that don’t progress will fall into ruins.

  • The Democrats don’t care about you; you are just a vote when required.
Residual effects is another excuse to shift blame from personal responsibility to others.
The President has already been judged by the reports you mention and then people voted him in.
You can judge me but your judgment is skewed otherwise you would not talk as you do. Our major cities are an
embarrassment to the world not just Americans.

  • Medved knows more than you or I about the subject. He is unbiased source as well. To wit:
“Those who want to discredit the United States and to deny our role as history’s most powerful and pre-eminent force for freedom, goodness and human dignity invariably focus on America’s bloody past as a slave-holding nation. Along with the displacement and mistreatment of Native Americans, the enslavement of literally millions of Africans counts as one of our two founding crimes—and an obvious rebuttal to any claims that this Republic truly represents “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” According to America-bashers at home and abroad, open-minded students of our history ought to feel more guilt than pride, and strive for “reparations” or other restitution to overcome the nation’s uniquely cruel, racist and rapacious legacy.

Medved also hates Trump so you should reconsider your slur.

The Progressive Left wants to destroy our country not make it better in any way you would recognize. That is why they must be put back to bed for another 30 years.

  • Epolimus

The Republicans don’t care about anyone, even their fanatical, racist followers. You want to talk about Democrat controlled filth holes, you need to take a look at deep-red states in the south. All politicians are greedy, but Republicans/conservatives don’t even pretend to care about minorities. And the ones that they tell that they are protecting the American way of life to, are in the worst shape of all.

The Republicans don’t care about children. Only when they can use the unborn as a manipulation tool to maintain the support of their allegedly religious base.
Extending that, the Evangelicals who voted in the sexual predator as our president don’t truthfully care about the alleged “millions of babies murdered each year by abortion.” That’s just a battle cry for fake outrage. If it were even slightly true, there would be massive protests going on 24hours a day. There’s not, because it’s a fake outrage, like the fake Christianity that is the ruling class in America.

Just because the president got elected with some of these many accusations being public, does not make it right. It does not dismiss those very serious allegations by over a dozen women.

Using your measuring rod with the Dems, then this president needs to resign immediately.
For the good of the nation, and the people who trusted him with their support.

  • Epolimus

Our sexual predator president is an embarrassment to the world.

  • Paul Froehlich

So would you like to return to that purported golden era like Roy Moore?

  • Paul Froehlich

The author is disagreeing with Roy Moore that the best era in America was when families were supposedly closer during the slave era. Is Roy right or wrong?

  • Paul Froehlich

Reasonable people can disagree with Amy’s angry rhetoric, but the real issue is Roy Moore’s statement. Would any Moore supporters care to defend it??

  • Arlene Adamo

From appearances, Medved seems to be one of those Israel-first guys who panders to a certain base type of American patriotism. I wonder if he would ‘love’ the U.S. if it cut off its funding to Israel. That would be interesting to see. I hope it happens because it would clear up so many things.

Disliking Trump does not make one automatically a bastion of virtue. Many horrible people dislike Trump simply because they are on the side of Neo-Liberals as opposed to being Neo-Conservatives.

Interesting that you took the huge leap from the word “progress” to the idea of “Progressive Lefts”.

  • This response is pathetic. Surely you can do better?
Abortion is part of the Democrat Platform not the Republican.
At the rate of abortion daily in this country no one cares about children.

  • That is your opinion but it is not shared by the world.

  • There is a big distinction between between Liberals, Leftists and Progressives. For that I’ll defer to Dennis Prager.

  • Lark62

    Yes, actually it is.

  • rob

Pretty much is here in the UK – you both scare us and are an embarrassment

  • rob

Only in the USA does it seem you can be pro-war, pro-guns, pro-death penalty and still claim to be pro-life.

  • I don’t think the USA is pro -war in general. Lives taken in the death penalty are in a different category.

  • Well you can criticize from afar but you know the story about glass houses..

  • Amy Courts

    How true, how true.

  • Lark62

America, as led by republicans, is pro war. And the lives taken by the death penalty are human lives. Add in what we know about the unfairness of our justice system, the worthlessness of the death penalty as a deterrent, and the number of innocent people executed and no rational person could be pro life and approve of the death penalty.

  • Pro – Life and the Death Penalty are at opposite ends of the spectrum. To equate baby killing with justice is immoral.

  • Lark62

Non viable cells are not babies.

OTOH, forcing women to sacrifice their bodies to birth offspring, then denying food, shelter, education and health care to the woman and those offspring is immoral.

  • Here is what God said about His non-viable cells, Psalm 139:13-14:

    (13) For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
    (14) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

I would say more but it is impossible to argue with Liberals who find fault with everyone and everything they disagree with while at the same time holding widely disparate positions. All I will say is think about what you will say to God on the day He asks you that question.

  • Lark62

    Wowzie.

According to a 3000 year old book of mythology, a possibly mythological King David was so arrogant that he thought a deity orchestrated his embryonic development. And, according to David, the deity did a bang up job.

And you seriously think that that nonsense has any relevance whatsoever to a woman’s personal medical decisions in the 21st century?

And then you throw in the obligatory threats of eternal torture. I am equally worried about your deity as I am worried about Quetzalcoatl.

  • So you are a Liberal and an Atheist? Amazing.
Why do you believe that killing an unborn child is a personal medical decision?
People have been killing unborn babies for a long time but in the past they had the guts to admit it.
Cloaking your decision in PCL doesn’t change the facts. It just identifies your perversion.

  • Lark62

A non viable fetus is not a child.

Are you aware that evangelicals supported abortion rights until the 1970s? That’s when republicans and evangelicals created the “OMG! They are killing babies” lie to get ignorant christians to vote for any breathing republican, no matter how immoral or unqualified.

And Alabama just proved this when over 45% of votes were cast for a child molester twice removed from office over a competent, middle of the road democrat.

Evangelicals vote against health care and education while pretending to be pro life.

You and your ilk are being played like a freakin violin, and you don’t even know it.

  • I find your comment ludicrous. I don’t follow evangelicals so I really don’t know what they may have done. You are saying because someone once supported baby killing and they change showing Mercy and Compassion that this is somehow two faced? Abortion is baby killing and has been through out the ages; practiced in many forms but still murder.
Alabama’s election has nothing to do with abortion. The democrat will vote for abortion as he is after all a democrat.

Obama Care is fake Health Care and has been since the beginning. Education is now suspect as Progressives have taken over the educational system in America and they are more worried about teaching young children about deviant sex, confusing them with gender identity, revisionist history and hatred of our great country. This is going to change also.

I would rather discuss the bible with an Evangelical than heretics like your ilk.
