So today is the official launch of the e-book I mentioned that I was contributing to a fortnight ago. Go buy it now! (more…) Read more

Yesterday at work, I learned from colleagues that my boss had lost her son to a long, debilitating illness. Her loss had been expected for some time, but no parent is ever comfortable with the prospect of a child predeceasing them. The word was that our boss would be out for the rest of the week on bereavement, and we figured the funeral for her son would be on Saturday and most of us could attend. So I said a... Read more

I’m a sucker for gearhead related stuff like this. Slap four wheels on something that includes a Formula-One engine, a Typhoon fighter plane jet engine AND a rocket motor? I’m definitely interested. ABC News has the clip (pardon any commercials), (more…) Read more

It’s the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. You might have noticed this, as he is one of the most popular of the fellows in the Communion of Saints. You can read better posts about Francis elsewhere, for sure. I just wanted to share a brief open letter he wrote to the powers that be. Francis, see, was a lot like Jesus. He even had the wounds of Christ to prove this. But he also had the temerity to... Read more

In an earlier post today, I asked a question about corporate personhood. You may recall that the current Administration doesn’t like the idea of a corporation being a person. They don’t care much for the Church being considered a person either. Back in March, O’Brien Industries was one of the first private corporations to sue the Health and Human Services Department. On Friday, the federal district court in Missouri threw their case out. Rob Vischer over at Mirror of Justice... Read more

Then why does the government argue in court that a secular corporation doesn’t have rights? Joe Six-Pack doesn’t know, but it seems awfully strange given the Supreme Courts rulings about corporate personhood, and the rights thereunto pertaining. The Citizens United case comes to my mind. This is what dislodged the thought above in my very average brain, (more…) Read more

Yeah, it’s a Neil Young song. And it wrapped up the Global Citizen Festival that I posted about on Saturday. What’s the name of this little tune? (more…) Read more

Which is why it must be rescinded. Yesterday, I talked about how pelvic issues have taken primacy and shared Dr. Helen Alvaré’s talk on the HHS Mandate given back in April. Looking further back to February, someone sent me an e-mail about a free class on the Constitution being offered at Hillsdale College. You can still sign up for that bootstrap class, and throw them some shekels as a donation for good measure. (more…) Read more

“Oh Frank, what’s with that headline? You’re really just too much. Calm yourself down man, and have a beer or something.” Actually, there isn’t enough room on the headline to say much more. I could have said, “Sex Viewed Through the Lens of Secularism Drives Our Political Policies.” But that might have put you to sleep. (more…) Read more

It’s the Global Citizen Festival and it’s “free” for a ticketed donation. The proceeds will be used to combat extreme poverty around the world. “Frank,” you’re thinking, “this is great news if I happen to live near New York City. But I don’t, so why bother?” (more…) Read more
