Your Weekly Fix Of Great Catholic Art – Josh Garrels

Convinced as I am that the only way to save the world is by way of beauty, I’m going to start doing my part. Once a week I’ll be highlighting a great Catholic artist (this includes non-Catholic artists being Catholic) who is busy creating beauty. I got lot of great recommendations on Facebook – please let me know if you have any more!

Let’s start with Josh Garrels. A reader put me onto his music, and let me tell you, it’s fantastic.

I’ll let it speak for itself. You can download his entire new album, Love & War & The Sea In Between, right here, for free. My personal favorite is Beyond the Blue, Track 9, but that’s just me.

Good idea. Similar to my Fine Art Friday feature that I’ve been doing for years.

Darn, I just had this idea. For the last month I’ve been researching good Catholic artists whose music doesn’t sound like Christian radio.

  • Rlodom

    I love his music. Thanks!

Beautifully haunting music! I’m enjoying your blog :)

I think you might like Gillian Welch. There is a good write up on them (they are both a band name and the songwriter’s name) at Light on Dark Water:

My goodness. I sent you an email recommending Josh Garrels for Sacred Sounds, without even realizing you had already brought him up here. Funny, the way that goes.
