While the millionaire crybabies in the NFL are “bravely” sitting out the national anthem in protest, a young boy with severe injuries is doing everything in his power to stand up during the Star Spangled Banner.

Before he was hit by an 18-wheeler, Wesley Baker was a high school football player in Conway, South Carolina. Now, he is bound to a wheelchair with brain damage and the loss of his right leg. Since the accident, Wesley has been going to football games with the goal of one day standing for the national anthem. He finally did this last Friday.

But this family’s hope goes beyond just him standing for the anthem:

“This is just another step towards him walking across that [football] field.”

“We knew that one day we were going to stand beside him and watch these ball games, and we know that one day he’s going to walk up these bleachers with us. There is no doubt in our mind.”

Wesley’s mother has a message to everyone, especially the pro-footballers who are lucky enough to have all their limbs and can continue to play the game they love like her son once did:

“Wesley, he’s worked hard, he’s lost his leg and he had a right to sit down, but now God is giving him the strength to stand up, and we all need to stand up for America.”
