God’s Not Dead 3 — God’s Not Left Behind

We open on a Newsboys concert. The ‘boys are rocking, really tearing the roof off the middle school auditorium. Suddenly, in the middle of “Breakfast,” they vanish, as does half the crowd. Reverend Dave is on his way to the police station in the back of a squad car when there’s an accident — a car with no driver has smashed into the police car. He runs out into a world filled with chaos: planes have crashed, buildings burn  [note: most of this will be implied due to budget] and many dogs are now walking without their owners. Dave knows this is the Rapture — but why is he still there? Only one person knows: Amy Ryan. The former atheist blogger turned faith blogger never really verbally asked Jesus Into Her Heart, so he knows she’ll be around. She’s now a Conspiracy Blogger, and she has a source who can help pastor Dave figure out what’s going on: it’s Rayford Steele (Nicolas Cage!!) the intrepid hero of “Left Behind.” He’s living low in now-deserted Louisville with Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron — double crossover!!), and they have bad news: The Antichrist (Ray Wise) has found a way to overwrite the Lamb’s Book of Life keep certain people from floating to Heaven  meddled with Christians’ DNA [Note: I don’t know how this works, but it’s an easy fix in post; the point is he’s the Antichrist and he’s preventing them from getting to Heaven]. Now, Rayford, Buck and Rev. Dave have to team up to do the unthinkable: Kill the Antichrist. And there’s only one crew with enough firepower and enough crazy to take down the Antichrist. That’s right: The Duck Dynasty crew, who have formed a small army in the mountains with the Duggars and four of the “John and Kate Plus 8” kids. There’s a massive [for direct-to-video] battle, in which Amy is mortally ruined, but she prays the Sinner’s Prayer right before dying. As the Antichrist takes his final breath, our heroes are taken up to heaven while the remaining secular world is plunged into Tribulation. Over the credits, there’s a massive dance scene in Heaven where Larry Norman, Fanny Crosby, Bill Gaither, Bono [if the Baptists are okay with this], Carman and TobyMac sing “God’s Not Dead.” [Note: An “In Memory of Tim LaHaye” tag would just be the classy thing to do].
