The Redemption of the Mundane: My Post at Convergent Books August 1, 2013

There’s a new imprint in town! Convergent Books is a division of Penguin Random House dedicated to books on progressive Christianity. I am thrilled and honored to have been invited to contribute to their new blog. My first post, on the redemption of the mundane (how I glimpse God’s goodness in the banal details of my suburban life), went up yesterday. If someone were to ask me why I’m a Christian, the answer would likely differ a bit from day to day, season to season. Right now, in the summer of 2013, the answer would have something to do with my basking in the summer sun, my beloved terrier nearby, my restored house behind me. These things testify to a world in which transformations are possible—hatred can turn to love, healthy relationships can follow failed ones, a house marked by death and darkness can be reclaimed by life and light.
