Team Brad or Team Aniston?  I think Brad is the better actor and pretty beautiful to boot, so I was pretty excited to go see “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” last night.  However, the roads were bad & the price wasn’t right so we ended up -reluctantly- at “Marley & Me.”  Who else loves going to the movies on Christmas? Overall: A- We loved this non-Hollywood-ish flick.  We went in thinking it was going to be a romantic comedy. ... Read more

This week, my hubby & I both celebrate birthdays while moving squarely into that “mid-30’s” range.  Soooooo much cooler than the 20’s fyi. Tonight, my hubby & I celebrated Christmas Eve by going to his home Church service with his parents.  Every year they turn off all the lights and everyone lights a candle.  I leaned over to Dave & said, “try not spill hot wax on your pants this time.”  This was referring to our friends Curt & Emily’s wedding... Read more

One of the best decisions I made this semester was to read this book, though it wasn’t a required reading I found myself more & more intrigued by Booker T. Washington. It’s a quick read taking me only three short sessions and it is a fabulous book.  I love his perspectives, his courage, his wisdom, his passion and his personal view of the transition period between when slavery ended until the early 1900’s. What I love best about this book... Read more

From last Saturday until yesterday I wrote 5 papers totaling 45 pages & took 3 final exams including one of which was Ancient New Testament Greek.  Let me tell you, there is a reason why there is a popular saying “it’s all Greek to me.” My splendiferous husband was kind enough to allow me to go to Holland (where my seminary is at) on Tue. and not come home until Fri. night so that I could go to review sessions... Read more

Most days, my sons hair looks like this… messy! When we wash it (which he HATES) or dare to comb it out (which he loathes) or wet it (while he screams) or put mousse in it (while he moans) it looks like this… pretty darn cute! Problem is, it’s winter in Michigan.  So, he either leaves the house with a wet head or with a hat on which leaves his hair looking like a smushed 1980’s jerri curl.  This, in... Read more

For one of my final papers I have been given this fascinating scenario to consider: Aliens come to earth.  They make America an offer for a trade.  They will offer us amazing technology that will allow the nation to wipe out its national debt, clean up the environment (until its restored to its original pristine condition), and develop a source of cheap, clean, inexhaustible energy (that, presumably, would secure America’s position as a world economic, military, social, and cultural powerhouse for... Read more

Every once awhile a good quote comes your way that you must share.  Today is that day. The one thing that hurts me the most about racism is other’s ignorance of it.  Certain aspects of racism cause anger, disbelief.  Also, rage.  But then there are some aspects which take the wind out of me.  Causing me to fall to the ground in pain. I have been doing more research for my final paper in which I am making an argument... Read more

Wikipedia has been so helpful to me in my studies this Fall that I just gave them $5.  Now they only need $3 million more! Read more

Between now & this Friday I have 5 papers due & 2 big finals –don’t expect to see me or talk to me, as I will be in a cave.  Well, actually either on my couch or at Panera. My in-laws -sweetest people in the world- took Ransom to their house for the weekend so that I could focus on doing well for my finals.  I slept for 12 hours last night!  I think I really needed it since little... Read more

I spoke too soon a few weeks ago when I said “I’d never pay for a professional picture because they can never get shots as good as I can.”  What was that about pride coming before a fall?  His pre-school shot that a professional took is ADORABLE.  I love it.  “Does God play?”  Ransom asked my mother’n’law, Sara the other day.  To which she replied, “yes.”  “Well, then where is he”? Ransom wanted to know.  Sara explained that God is... Read more
