Trans-Atlantic Disney Cruise, Day Five – Day At Sea

“Wow. I’ve never seen a family of 5 have so little luggage,” the man unloading our luggage said at Port Canaveral.

We looked at each other, then the four small bags. A big grin was plastered on David’s face.

My husband has strange beliefs, one being that he believes packing too heavily is a character flaw. It’s like he believes checking bags at the airport should’ve been one of the Scriptural reasons for divorce. (He’s so adamant about it that he literally suggested our family NOT check bags for our 8 day Africa trip when we went to get Naomi. Um… No.)

Anyway, when the luggage guy said that, I knew. We were toast. Though David was thrilled, I knew we didn’t pack enough. Especially when you consider that one suitcase was pretty much dedicated to books. The best thing about a cruise that has several days at sea is that you have time – lots and lots of time – to read! This year, I’ve been so busy writing books (two so far) that I’ve not made enough time to settle down and read them.

No more.

All of us have a long list of books that we’ve brought – some in hard copies, some in audio, and some on Kindle. Perhaps as we finish them, I’ll give you the run down on the books in case there are some that you might enjoy as well.

Today was another day at sea, which we spent:

1. Arguing at breakfast
2. Making up after breakfast
3. Going to see “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” (David and me)
4. Yoga (me)
5. Running on Deck 4 (David)
6. Doing a dance contest in the Oceaneer’s Club (Naomi)
7. Eating
8. Reading (Camille and Austin)
9. Seeing “Guardians of the Galaxy” (David)
10. Seeing a ventriloquist comedienne (Camille and Austin)

Tonight, there’s a huge party on the top deck with fireworks and a huge feast… Camille and Austin are planning on going to that, but I think I’ll stay in the room and read Walker Percy’s The MovieGoer.
