“There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other,” said Madeleine Albright at  a Hillary Clinton rally.

RedState wrote that the message was clear: “if you’re a woman and you don’t vote for Hillary, you’re going to burn in hell.”

Of course, she was joking.  Sort of.  The fact is, Hillary’s gender has repeatedly been brought up as a selling point for her candidacy.  She even mentioned it in the debates.

So, does that mean that the former Secretary of State supported Condoleezza Rice, GOP Vice President candidate Sarah Palin, or Congresswoman Michele Bachman?  How will she handle Carly Fiorina?

If not, is Albright condemning herself?

Here’s the truth.  We should not support candidates because they are women.  We should elect the most qualified candidate for each race. That person will sometimes be a female and will sometimes be a man.  But if one of your main criteria is your gender, you’ve already lost.
