7 Quick Takes Friday

No books this week. I mean, I love books. I have them. Lots of them. Just none today.

7.

Very exciting friends! Tomorrow I’m travelling to Peoria IL with the wonderful Leanne for a blogger meet-up, Mass, dinner, and a talk with the lovely Lisa Schmidt and Sr. Helena Burns. I get to hang out with Marie and finally meet Dianna and Bonnie So excited!

6.

I ended up with a free afternoon today, so I treated myself to mani/pedi. I tried the gel manicure that everyone is talking about. Wow. It dries fast and doesn’t chip. She said it could last 2 weeks. I sure hope so! They even had my favorite color; OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress red.

Did I tell you about the best red wine ever?

No?

It’s Apothic Red. A friend brought it to book club a while ago and I am hooked. I’m not a red wine girl. My motto when it comes to wine (after, “Is this a joke? Get me a bigger glass!”) is “the sweeter the better”.

But Apothic Red is a blended wine. It’s just a little sweet, but avoids the striking dryness of other reds, which made me not like them.

So good.

Do you have any game ideas for two players?
We have Scrabble, Scattergories, and Carmen SanDiego (don’t judge). Any others you can think of?
Also, remember these guys:
500 coolness points to the first person to name them!

So, thanks for all the love on my post yesterday on Humiliation and Trust. It’s hard sometimes to write about infertility, for the very reason that it is humiliating and it’s like cutting open a vein and letting it bleed on the page. The results are not pretty. But the Catholic world needs to know that it’s not all honeymoon babies and 12 passenger vans, and that couple in the pew with only one child may not be the contracepting “cafeteria” Catholics you think they are.
Also, in case it was lost in the post, I’m not sorry for one minute that I am living my life, with its crosses and sorrows. I don’t wish I could trade with anyone reading this who has normal fertility. I love my life, my family. I just wish sometimes that I could get pregnant without needing to utilize the technology required for the space program, is all.
Easier to launch this than to get me pregnant

Thanks to all of you for voting for me in the “Sheenazing” blog awards. Alas, I did not win in the “most inspiring blog” category. However, if you head on over to the Sheenazing page, you can find some excellent blogs to devour your time.

Re: #4. We love the game Carcassone! It’s 2-6 players, but is actually still fun with just 2 players, which a lot of games aren’t. Plus there are a lot of expansion packs to add variety…I won’t tell how many we have, but it’s more than 10…we’re a little obsessed =) Anyway, it’s fun!

Re: #3, I’m still grateful for your words yesterday =)

I definitely need to check out your post from yesterday.

I got a shellac mani/pedi for my wedding and my fingers seriously did not chip at all… they stayed on there until my nails grew completely out!

My brother in law and I laughed ourselves silly playing Where in the US is Carmen San Diego one Thanksgiving. It was hysterical.

Our current favorite game (besides 2-player euchre, a card game) is Yahtzee. If you like Scrabble, try Bananagrams–similar idea, much quicker games. We also recently got a Checker board, but we haven’t started that yet.

I guess it is easy being United Methodist here in West Lafayette. Not one of us would judge any one us by the number of our children. It is no one’s business other than the husband and wife.

I’ve heard sermons on how we should not be judgmental of other people.

Founjd it a tad ironic you posted a space shuttle photo on the tenth anniversary of the Columbia disaster.

Games for two… hm. Canasta for two, chess, mah jong, jenga, amoeba (a much more exciting version of tic tac toe).

I had no idea; that was totally coincidental. But now that I know, will pray for the victims. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!
