Prayer Requests August 16, 2012

Reader Eric W. writes:

I received this from a parishioner who goes to the church that we used to attend when we lived in Indianapolis.  As you so generously post prayer concerns on your blog, I would appreciate it if you would pass this along on your blog.  Father Sid heard our Confessions, gave us Holy Communion, and Anointed my son and me (which I’m convinced healed his heart and my arthritic thumb- 5 years and counting!)  He is a holy priest and the world won’t be as bright after he leaves it.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

As of this evening Father Sid’s is resting comfortably in Hooverwood Jewish Home rehab center but his blood pressure is very low. It dropped Sunday evening and hasn’t recovered despite attempts to raise it. The gallbladder cancer and the pain medication has made him much weaker. His food and hydration is minimal since he’s been resting. He softly communicated with various priests for very short periods today (he received communion, holy water blessing, absolution of sins, anointing and other special prayers.) These were very moving for Father Sid, his family and I. This evening his breathing is becoming more labored. St. Vincent’s hospice will be giving him care at Hooverwood. Fr Sid told a nurse on Sunday night that he was ready to go (move from the physical world to the spiritual.)

Because of his extreme weakened condition Fr Sid and his family graciously request that the only visitors be clergy and myself. They really appreciate everyone’s concern but please understand that visitors zap his remaining strength.

For the new people on this distribution I apologize that some were inadvertently missing from our list. Please forgive me to those who don’t routinely attend the church and may not even know that Father Sid had gone into the hospital on 7/20 to alleviate jaundice, which had also afflicted him in late February. Father’s wishes were to keep his illness private from most everyone until late July.

Please keep Fr Sid, his 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren in your prayers. May God Almighty continue to inspire the staff of Hooverwood and St. Vincent’s to use all their God-given talents to provide the best care they know how. And we seek comfort and peace for His good servant, Father Sid Sidor.

Father, hear our prayer through your Son Jesus Christ! Mother Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen!

I’m writing to ask you to pray for my fiancee and me as we approach the home stretch of marriage preparation. It’s a very exciting and stressful time, and we need God’s grace to keep us in faith, hope, and love! Also, I’d ask that y’all pray for me and a disease I’ve been fighting for almost a decade now. It seems to have come out of remission at a stress-filled time in my life, and I pray that God will help us make it through this time with joy and peace, not focusing on the pain but looking forward to a lifetime of blessed family life.

Father hear my reader’s prayer through Christ our Lord! Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for his and his fiancee. St. Luke, pray for his complete healing in union with the Blessed Virgin. Amen!
