Prayer Request

A reader writes:

A young boy in our neighborhood — Patrick, age six — has been in the hospital since Tuesday with complications following a severe heatstroke. He is receiving excellent care, but the prognosis is not good. We are begging Jesus and Mary to spare his life to the greater glory of God. His family has requested prayers to St. Jude and St. Lawrence. There has been an incredible outpouring of prayer and support within the parish and the larger Catholic community here, but more prayers are needed. I want to be clear that we are praying for a real miracle.

Father, hear our prayer for Patrick’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit.  Give skill, wisdom, and compassion to his caregivers and strength to his body.  Give all who love him grace, peace, consolation and strength through Christ our Lord.  Mother Mary, St. Luke, St. Lawrence, and St. Jude, pray for all concerned here.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Update:  It is reported to me that Patrick passed to eternal life this evening.  May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace through Christ our Lord.  Mother Mary, receive your little one and be his mother till this family is reunited joyfully in heaven.  Father, console and strengthen his family in this dark hour through Christ our Lord. Amen.
