Prayer Requests January 11, 2014

A reader writes:

Would you mind asking your readers to pray for my 9 year-old son, Ian. We took him to the emergency room tonight with severe abdominal pains. The doctors don’t know what’s wrong yet and plan a CAT scan soon. In Jesus’ name, we are praying.

Father, hear our prayer for Ian’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit.  Give his caregivers grace, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, compassion, skill and the proper technology to assist in healing him and give him and all who love him grace, peace, strength, consolation, faith, hope and love that your Name may be glorified in his healing.  Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for them.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Also, Dawn Eden writes:

Please pray for me on the morning of February 11, as I will be having surgery at 8 a.m. for a basal cell carcinoma on my temple. Judging from the size of the area affected, it looks like I may end up with one or two inches of stitches. I had noticed some questionable marks on my face, so went to the dermatologist last week and the cancer was discovered. This will be my first treatment for skin cancer, although I was successfully treated for thyroid cancer in 2008.

Father, hear our prayer for Dawn’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit and thank you for her previous successful treatments.  Give her caregivers grace, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, compassion, skill and the proper technology to assist in healing her and give her and all who love her grace, peace, strength, consolation, faith, hope and love that your Name may be glorified in her healing.  Our Lady of Lourdes,  St. Luke and St. Peregrine, pray for them.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Finally, a fellow Seattle asks prayers for our wonderful and beleaguered archbishop as he whethers the hostility of kids and parents who think they are being FutureChurch as they demand that the Church accomodate their dumb demand for gay “marriage”:

I’m praying for your mom.  Clearly you’ve had more pressing things to deal with lately than the latest culture skirmish in Seattle, but please pass on this prayer request for Abp. Sartain.  I’m sure he knew at an intellectual level the type of friction he would receive as a faithful Archbishop in Seattle, but instructing us Seattlites on moral duties is like picking up a cat by the tail.  You just have to live it.  I’ve remembered him during a couple rosaries lately because of the Eastside Catholic controversy, and please ask the minions to do the same.  Here’s the latest:

Father, hear our prayer for good Archbishop Sartain that he can stay strong in faith, hope, and love as he holds fast to and continue to teach the truth of the Catholic Church in the middle of the gale winds of a culture that sees nothing beyond consent as the sole critieron of the good.  Forgive the ill-catechized kids and their parents and honor their honest intention of trying to be “fair”, even though their heads are muddled.  Lead them by the light of truth to a clearer grasp of what you actually teach and why.  Thank you for this good bishop, Lord.  He’s a true gift.  Mother Mary, pray for him and for the Church in the Seattle Archdiocese.   We ask all this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
