Oh Dear

Oh Dear June 21, 2010

More “Harry Potter is demonic” silliness from people speaking out of their field of competence.

And now I will have to listen to hate mail from people saying, “How *DARE* you question the judgment of a priest?”

I know. I know. Catholics are allowed to heap contempt on the judgments of priests, bishops, and Popes when it comes trivialities like war, torture, the social teaching of the Church, the Council, or the death penalty. But when it comes to something really truly important like a question of literary analysis of some fun children’s books, the merest doubt that the priest doesn’t quite know what he’s talking about is enough to get you arraigned as a heretic and an enemy of the Faith.

Cyberspace: where rightly ordered priorities are not a priority.
