1. We are part of an ancient faith. Christianity wasn’t created yesterday. Our faith has endured long before there were smoke machines, video screens and electric guitars. While all of those can help enhance a worship environment in a modern context, Christianity isn’t a modern faith. It’s an ancient faith. One of the things that a traditional church can do very well is preserve a sense of history and perspective to the longevity of the Christian faith. In fact, the modern churches that are successful reconnect to the ancient traditions of the faith, not the cultural American traditions of the past fifty years, but the ancient practice of community, service towards others and living a Spirit-empowered life that we see in the ancient book of Acts.
