Bad Anglican Christmas Carols

Bad Anglican Christmas Carols December 15, 2016

Ah, the dulcet sounds of Christmas music found in every corner of every space, and now even in my own house even though Christmas is not even happening for at least another week. What is that? Those young Italian/Irish/Dreamy tenors wailing away that it’s a holy night? With a little Evie mixed in? Yeah, it’s all there.

Which means it’s time for us all to watch this….

I took the trouble to type out the lyrics. Because, well, all my children wanted to try to sing this monstrosity. Here they are.

The snow was cold and the snow was bright and the snow was all around.
For Christ was born on the day when God sent snow upon the ground.
For God has now come down to earth in a manger filled with hay.
Near an ox and and ass and a sheep and a duck and a goose that cold cold day.
On Christmas night not a sound was heard in Bethlehem below
Because all the ducks and the geese and the sheep were frozen in the snow.

So now with an angelic choir let’s praise the God who is big and bold
The God who never ever gets a chill even when the ducks are cold.

I’m not exactly sure if I got them right. I had to stop it over and over and go back, trying to make out that angelic choir line. I would like to formally request the Lutheran satire guys to change the music so that it goes somewhere. I mean, it’s fine singing the same thing for each line the first six times, but after that it’s gets a touch tedious.

Anyway, you’re welcome. Should be a little something to brighten up the next four hours of jingle bell rock. Where would Christianity be without Anglicanism? Wait. Don’t answer that.

And finally, here’s something else ridiculous.

Happy Singing!
