Boston Strong: The Land of the Brave

Bostonians, singing the national anthem at the first Bruins game since the Marathon Bombing.

I am so proud of these people.

I noticed in Italy, of late, that as things grew worse and the situation darker and more confused, people grew more patriotic. There was a time when the anthem and the flag were reserved for international sports competitions; now it is not uncommon to hear a concert end with the national anthem, and all parties lay claim to the national colours. The singer below, Eugenio Finardi, started out in the seventies as a hard-left character suspect of sympathy with Communist terrorism; now listen to him. Trouble calls people back to their roots and their values.

As the President mentioned in the Memorial Service today in Boston—-(not quoting here) the terrorists picked the wrong city to mess with or words to that effect.

The singing at the first Red Sox game was pretty cool, too.
