In the midst of the terror that unfolded from ISIS’ attacks in Paris last week, good will never be completely overcome. Here’s an amazing story of Diesel the dog, a canine who was killed defending her country:
An early-morning police operation in the suburbs of Paris turned violent as gunfire and explosions rang out in the area of Saint-Denis. […]
Diesel, a 7-year-old Belgian Malinois, died during the raid, French police tweeted.
The hashtag #JeSuisChien was trending on Twitter following the attack, in honor of the French police dog.
#JeSuisChien means “I am a dog.”
People were deeply moved by her death – apparently she was sent into a building to find booby traps. When she got in, a woman came out with an AK47 and a suicide vest. She blew herself — and the beloved dog — to pieces.
The French police tweeted out a memorial to Diesel, saying “assault and explosives search dogs are indispensable in the missions of the operators of the raid.”

Some may think that it’s weird that even amidst all the human death, that people are taking time out to mourn the loss of a dog.
But I think it’s necessary and good to take a moment to honor a dog that had more courage, values, and strength than the terrorists who ultimately killed her.
