"The fix is in, and it's working…"

Glenn Reynolds has this from a media newsroom:

A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: “Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working.” I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

I have a couple friends who work in the MSM, too, and one of them tells me the newsroom is (exact words) “unbelievably cavalier” about any complaints viewers register about their reports, what they ignore, their bias or the way they edit Republicans vs. the way the treat Dems. “Cavalier” as in the fix is in and they don’t even have to pretend to care what half the country thinks or wants.

I suppose this is why print media and the press in general don’t care about their tumbling revenues; when The Pelosi gets the regulated internet and restricted Congress that she wants, and Obama gets his thugs and his Justice Department monitoring, intimidating and shutting down alternative media (and the dissenting voices we’ve been told are “patriotic” when a Republican is in the White House) the incestuous mainstream press will go back to being the only game in town. Pravda West.

(Shrug) everyone sees it coming; the voters don’t seem to want to stop it.

I’m praying. It’s all I can do.

By the way, this friend of mine – and remember this is a person in media – cannot understand (as I cannot, either) why the McCain/Palin campaign is still playing by the old rules with a press that clearly hates them and will do all it can to hurt them. At the very least, the campaign should be recording absolutely every inter-action with journalists – print or television – to protect themselves.

Archbishop Chaput has been doing that for years, because the press has earned the distrust.

But I wonder if any of it matters. It seems it does not.

Meanwhile, Ann Althouse goes to Obama’s site to see what he’s saying about the financial “crisis” and the bailout vote. She finds a whole lotta nuthin’.

All of this is extremely distressing. We know the fix is in and the media are in love with someone they don’t know. Soneone no one knows.

Obama has no history to speak of, or at least nothing he’ll willingly share — just a vague terms like community organizer and lawyer. When people start asking questions or looking into his records, they’re shouted down and threatened.

There is no one from Obama’s past that vouches for him — that stands on the stage with him and says, “I know this man. I’ve known him for most of his life. This is who is is.” We haven’t heard from any friends or acquaintances from college, high school or his working years at a law firm or as a community organizer. Those he used for background on his website, Jeremiah Wright, Father Pfleger, etc., have all been thrown under the bus because they were so unseemly. Why doesn’t that frighten people?

We don’t know his grades or his coursework because his college record is hidden. He didn’t write any law review articles even though he was elected the president of the Harvard Law Review. His law firm records are hidden. His communications from his time as an Illinois State Senator are lost.

Information that does leak out does so in publications that aren’t widely read and the media chooses to mostly ignore. But that information is alarming. His work for ACORN, his connections with Saul Alinsky disciples Ayers and McNight his profile in The Reader and his few writings like his article “After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois” offer a frightening look at what’shiding behind a seemingly pleasant demeanor.

The fix is in, and we know it because we know if a republican candidate was as far-right as Obama is far-left, the media would be apoplectic.

He is their ticket back to power, as the Anchoress noted, more than the haughty but dim John Kerry or the dull and unexceptional Al Gore. They’ve seen enough of his activist history, the history they won’t share because it’s so unpalatable, to know how he’ll use his power. So they cover his campaigning with romantic prose and let the voters project onto that pleasing outer shell whatever they want to see.

We are in for very dangerous times.

Goodness, I had a mountain of typos in my comment above. It should read:

why the McCain/Palin campaign is still playing by the old rules

Please don’t put any of this on Palin. It is the McCain people who are throwing things down the toilet, not her. It is the McCain people who would rather continue to embrace Dems and MSM rather than have anything to do with conservatives — Palin included — even though it is Palin and the conservatives that gave him new life (for which they do not have graditude, but resentment that she should be more popular than he). Indeed, they would rather bring her back to earth and slap the conservatives in the face yet again (here in DC we are being subjected to the SECOND McCain pro-stem cell ads, but absolutely no ads on the financial mess), instead of going against the MSM and Dem pals. They would rather do what they enjoy the most — attack Bush, whose administration warned against the mess again and again and again — instead of working to defeat the MSM and Dems.

McCain wants to work with them, not defeat them. So how can the voters stop it? The voters are essentially powerless at this point. He’s not going to stop them. Even when he makes a slight attempt, he only gets played and played again and again.

And that supposed great defender of liberty and “the people’s right to know” is indeed a modern-day Pravda and Tass. And more and more portions of government are being run like the Politburo — all decisions made behind closed doors, with leaders coming out and smiling as they spew lie after lie about what they are doing.

I don’t know if you might have read this article
http://tiny.cc/eGldx “Alinsky Is Dead, Long Live Paul” By Fr. Robert J. Carr (5/1/2005) at Catholic Online.

    Notice the date.

Fr. Carr connects the dots, not with Obama, but with Voice of the Faithful. Referring to a course taught at Harvard Divinity School entitled ‘Organizing: People, Power and Change’ taken from Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”:

“Aimee Carevich of Voice of the Faithful, a teaching fellow for this class, it is this course and its teacher, Marshall Ganz that are behind this attack and this dissident group and its goal to attempt to stage a coup of the Catholic Church.”

It’s a good read if you haven’t already read it. The surest way to defeat this enemy is humility and nowhere will we find such humility as in Our Blessed Mother.

Oh yeah, they are out to get Obama elected. He could be a serial killer and not only would they not report on it, they would help him hide the bodies.

They did the same thing with Bill Clinton? How else did a man with his history with women and crooks get in the White House?

I hate to see them go after Palin, but you know what? She is a big girl. She did not get where she is by being a dummy.

I do think more and more people are noticing this bias.

Is this any different from 2004? Or 2000? Or 1996? Or 1992? Or 1988? Or 1984? Or 1980?

There’s only two times this has actually worked, and it required Ross Perot to split the GOP vote the first time and a popular Democrat incumbent the second. Neither case obtains this year. If this sort of over-the-top propaganda actually worked, Obama would be decisively winning in all 50 states right now. He isn’t. And methinks that one side effect of the media propaganda offensive is to make people afraid to tell a nosy-stranger-who-somehow-has-their-phone-number who they’re voting for.

Methinks, to borrow a phrase from General Chuck Horner, USAF(Ret.), that the MSM is doing wardances in their own tipis.

Just a quick observation. Me dear old Mum, 82, has no means of information other than MSM. She’s not a political junkie at all, but keeps herself informed as a good citizen should. She and her lady friends do not trust or believe the MSM one whit. These ladies have experience and know how the world works. They aren’t fooled at all. I suspect this is true for a large number of people. The fix may be in, but it could just be one branch of the MSM talking to another with less influence on the voting public than is supposed. At least, I hope this is true…
