Two things that fascinated me about Venice on my one very short trip there. First, it has very little green. Few gardens and almost no parks. Difficult to grow things in a city built on stilts in the middle of the sea. And second, it's very very quiet. It doesn't occur to you until you're there, there are no cars. It is the first time I've ever been anywhere with no cars.
What? No 007 racinf his speedboat gondola down the Grand Canal under the Bridge of Sighs?
