St. Rita Monastery in Italy Helps Brides Who Can’t Afford Gowns…

I’ve been emotionally all over the map this week, and this news article made me have all kinds of feels. It’s got nuns, new brides, and beautiful bridal gowns. It’s full of hope and love and promise. Just reading it makes me proud to be Catholic. I may be a divorced old spinster but I still love weddings and happy couples. I also adore St. Rita and owe much to her intercession. Plus, the nun featured in this story sounds absolutely huggable.

Wow, the NYT didn’t badger the nuns for not providing free contraception to the brides?

That has to be the most gorgeous bridal boutique on the planet. Would you ever want to marry again? Pardon me, but you look very young for a spinster. A hell of a lot can happen in your forties. What, you say? Try three kids. Naturally.

It ain’t over ’til it’s over, baby.

Would I ever want to marry again? Probably not. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary for me to even consider it.

I’m tickled by this. In the old days, brides used to donate their gowns to convents for the clothing ceremony some orders practised, which involved the novice wearing a bridal gown before receiving her religious habit.
Now, it’s the other way round. God never wastes anything.
