Announcing a Week of Announcements for CBMW: First, the Website! March 4, 2013

Some of you are aware that I’m the Executive Director of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. I’ve been loving my work since I started formally in January 2013, and we’ve been pulling together various threads since then. As you may know, CBMW is in its fourth decade of operation, having been started in 1987 as the brainchild of Wayne Grudem and John Piper. The Danvers Statement was the kick-off for the movement.

Flash ahead 26 years later and the organization is going strong. Today, we at CBMW are announcing a week of announcements. For the next five days, we’ll be sharing fresh news about upstart initiatives. I’ve been working with numerous staff members on these projects, and we’re bursting at the seams for you to learn about them.

Here’s a brief breakdown of what we’re going to cover this week:

Monday–New website
Tuesday–New channels
Wednesday–New staff
Thursday–New book projects
Friday–New media

We give thanks to the Lord for the opportunity to share this exciting vision of coming days with you, and hope you’ll partner with us in ministry in the near future.

So, enough talking. Enough drumrolling. Without further ado, here’s our first announcement (also posted at the CBMW site).

***********

Many of you are familiar with CBMW.org, our long-standing resource site. CBMW.org has been a destination for years now and receives thousands of hits per month; it’s received hundreds of thousands of visits over the years. It has specialized in providing theological resources; I’ve heard from person after person how helpful CBMW has been in this respect, with our excellent journal (helmed by theologian Denny Burk) clocking in as an outstanding resource.

We’re going to continue in that vein. No need to reinvent the wheel. CBMW’s website will, we trust, continue to be a major help to Christians and churches wanting gospel-shaped guidance on sexuality and gender in home, church, and also the broader world. But here’s the very cool thing: we’re going to launch a new website, with a fresh new look building off the old, in April 2013.

We’re excited to publicly announce a partnership with Rocket Republic, headed up by designer Josh Shank. Josh is a young, gifted creative professional who has worked with numerous other evangelical organizations, including the Gospel Coalition, the North American Mission Board, Sojourn Network, and the PLNTD Network. Josh is heading up both our branding and design efforts; a little sample of his work is found above.

I’m thrilled with what Josh has produced already, and with the whole CBMW team, I can’t wait for you to see the full fruition of this exercise in creative disruption. Like our content itself, you’ll see a continuity in design from old to new, but you’ll also observe a fresh, workable, streamlined interpretation of that framework geared to a modern audience. Our goal is consistent with innovations in design philosophy in recent years offered by diverse folks like Steve Jobs (and Jonny Ive) of Apple, Bjarke Ingels, and Ralph Lauren; we believe that the function and form of a resource should serve one another, and we’re aiming for our website to do just that.

Rocket Republic has us on just that track, and we couldn’t be more excited about partnering with this top-notch firm.

So that’s what we’re looking to do at CBMW in our new website: to serve you, and Christ’s church, as well as we possibly can, in order that God’s people might flourish according to his elegant and wise craftmanship. He is the ultimate designer, after all, and we at CBMW seek simply to point up the goodness of that design.

So stay tuned, and look for a new website teeming with biblically-driven, culturally aware content in just a few short weeks.
