Read Like Me, Pray (Badly) Like Peter

Read Like Me, Pray (Badly) Like Peter July 13, 2015

Turing test results continue tomorrow, and, in the meantime, I’ve got links if you want to read like me or screw up like Peter.

Ethika Politika has a summer reading recommendations feature running, and I’ve contributed the five books I’d recommend from my reading so far this year.  Includes theology, data visualization, autopsies and this:

Helen MacDonald. H is for Hawk. Training a goshawk is the strangest approach to grief I’ve ever encountered. I kept reading excerpts from this memoir to my mother while we were traveling together until she got her own copy and started reading passages back at me.

(which I’m probably going to reread in a couple months — I had coffee with a friend who’s reading it this weekend and it got me excited all over again).

Last week, I gave a talk on doing a good job praying badly (adapted from the final chapter of my book – Arriving at Amen: Seven Catholic Prayers that Even I Can Offer) and the audio is now up!  (It’s right near the bottom of the page).

I had a great time (especially with the Q&A) and I’m looking forward to attending some of the other rooftop Theology on Taps happening this summer.
