When a gunman killed seventeen people at a Parkland school in Florida, America grieved. Soon enough, people on social media began to try to figure out how to prevent such a horrific incident from happening again. The comments were predictable.
Liberals’ knee jerk reaction is usually to “finally do something about guns.” They say the government has been too inactive about restricting access to weapons, and claim that policy makers need to create more laws to keep guns out of the hands of Americans. Mark Meckler pointed out that some even blamed “toxic masculinity” for the shooting. He explained that Rutgers University’s newspaper included a February 19 editorial by contributor Francesca Petrucci which asked if “we can equate femininity to passivity with little statistical evidence, why is it that we cannot equate masculinity to gun violence with large statistical evidence?” In other words “toxic masculinity” was to blame.
Conservatives, on the other hand, believe we have plenty of gun laws. Rather, they blame the dissolution of the family. Suzanne Venker on FoxNews pointed out that almost all of the most recent deadly mass shooters have one thing in common. Of the 27 deadliest mass shooters, 26 of them grew up in a family without a traditional father figure.
Liberals accuse conservatives of not caring about our nation’s children. Conservatives accuse liberals of not prioritizing children. It seems America is getting pulled apart, and it’s going to worsen as anti-gun fervor goes to a whole new level. This, for example, happened in Nashville this week:

So, the kids were protesting violence caused by guns, and they felt the need to tear down an American flag? Liberals need to think long and hard about what the anti-gun movement actually is… and decide once and for all if they actually, really want to oppose the foundational values of our nation.
