You can’t be Christian and a xenophobe. I’m seeing on Twitter where some people – allegedly Christians – are categorically calling the refugee crisis an “infiltration” and ascribing evil motives to these desperate people. And I understand the need for governments to exercise prudence and right judgment and all, but seriously – if we, as Christian individuals, don’t welcome the stranger and refugee because we *suspect* there might be ties to terrorism…God will hold us responsible for our sin of omission.
Jesus put zero conditions on how we are to treat the least of these – and refugees from war and conflict certainly qualify.
We might not be able to do anything directly, such as take a family into our homes – but there are excellent charities who are begging for aid and assistance. Deacon Greg Kandra blogged about them here.
