Shingles and the Sovereignty of God

Shingles and the Sovereignty of God June 23, 2006
You will probably notice a decline in productivity here over the next little while. I have just been diagnosed with shingles. I am trusting in God and taking my Acyclovir in the hope that this attack will not be too severe or last too long. I noticed the symptoms during the last of a series of very important work meetings and a few days after I had preached the second of my two sermons on Romans 8 (Sermon 1 and 2 are both available for download).

I am grateful for the timing in some ways as it could have been so much worse. I was reminded today of the words I read out last Sunday: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,” so I am looking to this shingles to work for my good. Perhaps this is God’s way of making sure I get a well earned rest! I don’t want to have to miss the newfrontiers conference in a couple of weeks, however, so I would certainly value your prayers right now . . .

I can’t sit at the computer for more than about five minutes due to the pain, and probably shouldn’t even be doing that, so this is me, checking out for awhile, although links will probably continue as usual as I have an assistant beavering away, and may well be able to quickly check things every now and then.

Incidentally, if you would like to see your link here, why not add it to delicious and send it to review by adding as one of your tags the following: “for:apwarnock”?
