Prayer meetings demonstrate if we are reformed and charismatic

Prayer meetings demonstrate if we are reformed and charismatic October 17, 2010

In a great post about planting the Newfrontiers church in Tacoma, near Seattle, Bo Noonan makes the point that it is as we gather to pray that people can clearly see the flavour of Christian group we are:

The first church was birthed out of a pretty amazing prayer meeting. In Acts 2 we see a gathered people who were desperate for God to move. I believe this is the pattern of church planting. Church plants are often conceived and birthed in prayer. Whether corporate or individually, your prayer for a certain city may be answered in you packing up and moving there.

I’m amazed at how God not only grew our church plant through prayer meetings, but in prayer meetings. We invited people that we had just met to these prayer meetings and it was there that they caught a vision for our pioneering work. The environment was electric and full of vision. They saw people passionate about God and their city. They then heard prayers that included cries for some amazing things… vision was cast.

It’s out of the cry of someone’s heart that you hear vision and theology. Saying that you are reformed and charismatic can be difficult to communicate, but it is simple to demonstrate in a prayer gathering.
