I’ve been listening to a really good song part-written by an old blogging friend of mine. Its all about surrendering our wills to a higher cause, that of Christ and his plans for us. You can buy the song on iTunes or read the lyrics here:
YOUR WILL (as recorded by Saint Lewis) (c.)2011
– Lewis, Durbin, Gilles, & TuckerI’m leaving my ambitions – I’ve given up my dreams
Surrendered to the plans You laid for me
I’m waiting for a greater vision of who I’m meant to be
Nothing else matters when You are in control
that’s all I need to knowYour will is all I need
Your will is my destiny, Lord
Without You I am lost, Father
No matter what the cost
I’ll live for Your willYou left Your grand postion in Heaven’s majesty
Surrendered Your own body to the wrath reserved for me
In Your cross I see a vision of who I’m meant to be
Nothing else matters when You are in control
that’s all I need to knowYour will is all I need
Your will is my destiny, Lord
Without You I am lost, Father
No matter what the cost
I’ll live for Your willI’m laying down my will
I choose You
I’m leaving everything behind
Nothing else matters because You are in control
that’s all I need to knowYour will is all I need
Your will is my destiny, Lord
Without You I am lost, Father
No matter what the cost
I’ll live for Your will
I’ll live for Your will
One of the other writers of this song suffered the birth and death of their son days after it was recorded. It has helped them in their grief. Christians do grieve, just not in the same way as those with no hope. Here’s what the father wrote:
One of the challenges of being a worship songwriter occurs when you’re presented with an opportunity to live your words, and prove whether you really meant them or whether it was just a matter of rhyme and meter.
May God be close to them, and also to you if you are grieving.
