Bob Roberts is a man on a mission, and he makes sure all his church plants are on that same mission: We require our new churches to do 3 things:  work somewhere around the world in a hard place, work with the poorest in the inner-city, and multiply churches.  We have them do all this in the first 12 to 24 months.  Why?  Because we are setting DNA.  If this is done early on, like the offering, like evangelism, then... Read more

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Sometimes a video is worth a whole book.  This is one of those times.  I dare you to watch this video, and not conclude that social media really is a revolution.  As Christians we have to embrace this, aware of its dangers, but becoming experts at using these tools for the glory of God.   Read more

Josh Kouri  recently published a blog review which listed 4 reasons he felt people should read this book: Adrian is both a Spirit and Word guy . . . Gospel centered theology must include the resurrection along with the cross . . . This book will introduce giants. If you already read Edwards, Marten Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, Charles Spurgeon and Calvin you’ll love hearing them speak to the resurrection, but if you haven’t yet met these men, Warnock will do... Read more

I am back to agreeing with Spencer today when he argues that the biggest problem with both our society and the modern church is that we have sidelined Jesus himself: The culture—including the academy—has decided to adopt the “any Jesus but the one in the New Testament” approach, while leaders of the church have asked Jesus to step into the wings and wait quietly while they keep the audience entertained.Read more at location 1364 Speaking of the Western Church as... Read more

Some of my readers might have been surprised, when I said in yesterday’s post that I largely agree with Michael Spencer’s criticisms of the church. The modern church is in a mess. And, I trust that many of you will echo his cry: I’m looking for a spiritual experience that looks like, feels like, sounds like, lives like, loves like, and acts like Jesus of Nazareth. It’s that simple. Read more at location 1151 I even agree with Spencer that such... Read more

Michael Spencer was known to Christian blog pioneers as the Internet Monk.  Although he described himself as in the post-evangelical wilderness, and often locked horns with the likes of the pyromaniacs, he never lost the respect of most evangelical and reformed bloggers.  His message was bold. I would often strongly agree with around half of it and strongly disagree with the other half! We were both going to have our debut books published in 2010. Sadly, Spencer didn’t live to... Read more
