Blogotional disagrees with my thoughts on the Holy Spirit: “Adrain does a wonderful job earlier in his post of defending his assertions scripturally, but here I see no such back up. Save for the the Acts account of Pentecost, I see no evidence of a conscious and separate experience marking receipt of the Holy Spirit. Further I see no evidence that such an event will ‘usually’ be accompanied with tongues or prophecy.” As far as both points, I think a... Read more

GOD or NOT: A Blog Carnival has been launched. It is described as follows: “In September of 2005, an unprecedented ‘blog swap’ took place between an atheist site and a Christian one. Chad from Eternal Revolution and ‘I Am’ from The Evangelical Atheist agreed to post to each other’s sites in an effort to improve the understanding of each side by the other. The exchange was considered an overwhelming success, and all involved wanted to find a way to keep... Read more

DAvid Wayneinteracts with the news from John Piper’s church: “I think one of the biggest theological news items right now is the news that Bethlehem Baptist, pastored by John Piper, may admit paedobaptists into membership at Bethlehem. They have created an 85 page document which can be downloaded.” Read more

I hope I never forget a conversation I had with Tamasin and Henry my two oldest children last night. Already my kids know most of the bible stories well and like me can become almost too familiar with them. I suddenly realised, however that we had never told them the story of Job, however. So, reading slowly and stopping along the way to discuss it and where necessary paraphrasing the ESV version of Job 1 became their bible story last... Read more

I am in shock. I am very concened that racism may in fact be too popular for my liking within the community of God bloggers. What evidence do I have for this? Well let me explain. I have just ejected a popular blog from the Blogdom of God. This blog contained a steady stream of what I felt was nothing other than racism. I am incredibly grateful to the person who e-mailed me their concerns about the blog in question.... Read more

This post is a gathering into one place of as many thoughts, verses and quotes on the Holy Spirit as I can find from my blog. I have posted much if not all of this before but here it all is together…. Just to kick of with, I believe that the HS is given: 1. To assure us of salvation2. To empower us to live godly lives since, “PRINT ON A PAGE CAN NEVER MAKE US HOLY ON ITS OWN.”3.... Read more

I have written my first “proper” post over at theologica: It is interesting how we launch straight into a forum like this and get stuck into some great theological discussions. I think though, it is important that we don’t assume too much at the outset. A while back a debate raged amoung some theoblogs about what exactly is the gospel, and our response to it. We discovered that many God bloggers had very different ideas about these foundations of our... Read more

This book was for me a book of two halves. The first half outlined the thesis of the authors, namely that it is God’s word and in particular the gospel that should be allowed to set the direction of the church. The opening chapters were quite simply outstanding. I liked the fact that Dever is clear that we do actually need to do something quite deliberate if we want healthy churches that will grow in the right way. The following... Read more

The Reluctant Puritan has described me in probably the kindest ways anyone has in a long time: “Probably tied with David Wayne as the nicest guy on the internet. Adrian is also one of the most popular Christian blogs.” Apart from his totally over the top assessment of me, he seems to run a decent outfit- pop over and have a look. Read more
