A Fond Farewell (for Now) to All Set Free

A Fond Farewell (for Now) to All Set Free

After several years of writing here on All Set Free, I want to take a moment to say thank you—to Patheos, to the editors who have supported my work, and most of all, to you: the readers who’ve shown up, subscribed, shared, and engaged with these words.

Whether you’ve followed me from the very beginning or just stumbled across a post or two, your encouragement has kept me going through countless essays, rants, theological musings, and moments of raw honesty. I’m incredibly grateful.

But now it’s time to turn the page.

While the archives here will remain live for anyone who wants to revisit them, this blog is going on hiatus. Going forward, I’ll be writing exclusively at The Quollective—a new project we’ve been building at Quoir for several years. And I’m thrilled to finally invite you to join me there.

The Quollective isn’t just another blog. It’s a reader-supported platform featuring over a dozen (and growing!) diverse, justice-oriented writers who care deeply about the kinds of conversations we’ve been having here. When you subscribe, you get access to all of our contributors—unfiltered, uncensored, and grounded in authentic, community-driven dialogue.

To try it out for free, just use the promo code 1MONTHFREE and unlock the entire site for your first month, no strings attached. If it’s not for you, you can cancel anytime. But if you decide to stick around—and I hope you do—a yearly subscription gets you 10% off (just $4.50 a month).

One thing I love about this model is that every contributor shares in the revenue. It’s collaborative. It’s sustainable. And it means that our work is supported directly by the people who find it meaningful—you, the reader.

And while we won’t be running corporate ads or chasing algorithms, this isn’t a knock on any platform that does. Patheos has given me a space to speak freely and connect with a wide audience, and I’m genuinely thankful for that. The Quollective is simply a different kind of space—one that’s fully supported by its community from the ground up.

So, if you’ve found value in All Set Free, I hope you’ll follow me over to The Quollective. That’s where all of my new writing will live from here on out, alongside the thoughtful work of others you’ll definitely want to read.

Thank you again for the journey. Let’s keep going—together.

With gratitude,
Matt
