5 Legitimate Reasons People No Longer Trust the Church

Patriarchy and an Ignorant Anti-Intellectual Culture… 

A pair of these two together because I believe they go hand-in-hand. For instance, “Deborah can lead an army, but yet she can’t teach a bible study?” It’s this complete disregard of logic that so far frustrated the Church many of us have simply disengaged; deeming the “church” and her leadership as too incompetent to even stomach.

This would sound a bit harsh if it weren’t for the fact that the topics being “argued” and/or pushed forward by this system have to do with the hate of individual persons and the perpetuated oppression of entire sects of society; e.g. women, at large.

So wait, let me get this straight, Deborah can lead an army, but yet she can’t teach a bible study? #TotallyMakesSense

We look at Mary Magdalene and the smearing of her name. I mean, this could be summed up in one word: patriarchy.

It’s tough to trust the church when patriarchy is their motive. It’s, fortunately, unfortunate that patriarchy has become outdated and unconventional… fortunate for us; unfortunate for them.

Sister Barbara Bowe brings me to my next point saying, “Characters get blended together and homogenized in ways that don’t preserve the integrity of the texts.”

It does not just lack integrity but this lack of integrity makes us begin to question scripture, and/or the validity of their God.
