While working at PCC I had a small group of high school guys, to start off the group I’d show a video I found off of YouTube to get their attention and pull em into the conversation… This was probably their all time favorite: Read more

Trust in the Lord with all your heart… If I trust in the Lord with all my heart, all my mind, all my soul, and all my strength… Then why do I hesitate when I feel he’s asking me to do something that requires faith. For me, I don’t hesitate when he asks me to do something out of faith. It’s that I hesitate because I don’t know if it’s Him or if it’s just me talking to myself… During... Read more
This is why we’re called to ministry. To reach out to the hurting, the lost, the broken, to love them unconditionally when no one else does, to share with them the same hope, meaning, and purpose of life that we have found to be a light in their life when no one else is… So many of us were this student in middle school. I know I was: To be honest when I first saw this, I got a little... Read more
Ugh, the dreaded question “So what do you do for a living?” You see as a pastor, when people you meet for the first time ask you this question 8 times out of 10, this is a conversation killer. For some reason or another people don’t know how to respond to hearing this. You can almost see the walls and barriers shoot right up once they find out you’re a pastor… Most of you might be thinking, who are not... Read more
So I took this off of Carlos Whittakers site… I frequent his blog (too much, WAY too much) but if you’re a worship leader, pastor, church goer, or can breath you should check this guys blog out. So good, but (just warning you) so addicting… also you can buy his CD here, its good, I got it. I’m not a worship leader in the least… I mean, well I worship, but I don’t sing and lead music in front of... Read more
The statistics are staggering. 88% of children raised in Christian families leave church at the age of 18, never to return. Only 4% of the “bridger” generation, or Gen Y, will be Bible-believing Christians when they reach adulthood, all while, the 20 something male is almost completely absent in the American church, which seeing the above statistics, doesn’t look like that will change anytime in the near or further future… The question comes around to then, “Why have so many... God, at times asks us to do things that are ridiculous. Seemingly. I’m trying to think through all the people in scripture he commands to follow him and abide him… Peter and Paul who he shows how their going to suffer for the sake of the gospel, “if you follow me, you’re probably going to die… actually you will die if you follow me, no doubt. So you in?” (paraphrase) How’s that for a pitch, in committing your life to... Read more
Guest Post: Jon Olsen So got to know Jon a few years back in Northern California, where we interned together at Community Presbyterian Church for a summer. Theological rooftop conversations, Francis Chan, uncomfortable staff meetings, rebuking elders in staff meetings (which made them even more uncomfortable), Primo’s Pizza, beer and two-buck-chuck, all add up to an unforgettable summer… nonetheless Jon and I still stay in touch, he moved down to Southern California and is now youth pastoring at a local...
