I haven’t had much time to post lately, and I won’t have much to post next week either, so I stole borrowed an idea from Bearing and decided to give you a week of re-runs. Since my blog is now a little over a year old, I figured I probably have enough material to get away with this. I hope. Anyhow, today’s post is a re-run of one I wrote last September. I wish I could say that I’ve grown since then, that I... Read more

Well, it’s done. The first post-partum run. In what is quickly becoming a biennial rite of torture, this morning I  managed to pant and grimace my way through a mile run (interspersed with about a mile of walking, in case you were too impressed). In the last nine months, here are some things I’ve forgotten about running. 1) It hurts. 2) When running while breastfeeding, one either needs to wear the cruellest of sports bras or have a few yards... Read more

Happy Sunday, guys! I love Sundays. We’re making molasses-spice cookies after Mass today to spite the desert and it’s stupid 103 degree weather. Some of you have been asking for an update on Liam and the health department debacle, so here it is. Liam is much better. He’s gone two days without a coughing fit, we haven’t had to give him a breathing treatment since Friday, and his congestion seems to be much less. We’re feeling pretty confident at this... Read more

Normally I’m not one for writing about my day-to-day life unless I feel there is some purpose or larger lesson to be gained from the story. But today was such a day that I feel the need to vomit my indignation into the blogosphere, so fair warning: there will be no moral to this story. Unless you count the title. Our little boy, Liam, is six weeks old today. For the past three weeks he’s been struggling with really bad... Read more

I really don’t. Don’t get me wrong, I think my kids are very, very cute. Certainly their unique personalities and funny little quirks make them all the more endearing to me, rendering them cuter, perhaps, in my eyes than in other people’s. However, I also have some objective grasp on reality which allows me to say no, my children are not cuter than the billions of other children on this planet. But every time I admit this to someone, particularly... Read more

This morning I took out my camera to upload some pictures on facebook. I immediately realized that the camera was covered in peanut-butter fingerprints. I thought to myself, “Hmm…I wonder which one of my children did this?” Then I turned on the camera. This is the first picture I saw: Heh heh. Charlotte does not have a future career in anything involving stealth. (She fell and bit her lip, in case you’re wondering) Read more

Credit to Anne White for the phrase “what the what?” It’s such a handy phrase when one finds oneself surrounded by big-eared offspring. Or when, you know, one doesn’t want to curse in the blogosphere. Not that one curses in everyday life. Okaaay….in case you’re wondering, no I’m currently not particularly mentally stable. I’ve spent the last 36 hours with a sick baby and two energetic older kids who really don’t want to be at home. Also, I’ve been having... Read more

A few nights ago, I had a rough night. Everything was going along just fine…the baby slept in his swing for two whole hours, during which time I got some reading done and played “Pretend Safari” with the girls. I got one whole load of laundry folded and sort of put away and managed to both pick up our bedroom and make the bed. The rest of the house still looked like a tornado hit it, but hey, baby steps.... Read more

My brain is mush. I can’t even think of a unifying theme for quick takes this week, so I’m just going to write. And this post is likely to be neither witty nor interesting, but I can’t let another Friday go by without quick takes. (After you read my uninteresting post, go visit Jen at Conversion Diary. Her posts are always interesting!) #7 To all of you who have sent/given us gifts, diapers or clothes since Liam’s birth, I promise... Read more

I was on Facebook just now, and having read everyone’s status updates and creepily made my way through walls of people I haven’t seen in years (Facebook makes everyone creepy. It’s a fact we must accept. I love you, Bobby, and your wonderful business, so don’t think I’m knocking it.), I found myself staring at my own profile page and wondering what people think of me when they read it. (You do it too. Just like you google yourself. Facebook... Read more
