Our Hampton Inn hotel on West 55th St. was close to so many things, the theater district, great restaurants, Times Square, and MOMA– the Museum of Modern Art. We will do a separate post on the later, but here are some of the sites near where I stayed.
Obviously New Yorkers have the good taste enough to know which are the best doughnuts, namely the kind that comes from N.C. 
There is an excellent genuine Turkish restaurant near my hotel called Turquaz which was fabulous. Red Lentil soup was the big hit, then Baba ganoosh, then Adana kebab which is lamb on rice, and then the wonderful dessert kunefe.
