As I mentioned, Zurich is on a river and a lake, like Lucerne.
Complete with swans. One of the nearby places with visited was the municipal building where the burgermeister and others do official business.
I don’t know of any mayor’s offices that look like this in America, but we do have a few cathedrals that have windows like these…
And speaking of interesting church rules, the picture below (actually from Lucerne, but these rules were common) I like to call petticoat junction. Women used to wear large corsets or petticoats. If their corsets were two broad or spreading, they were not allowed in the church service, because they would take up too much room in the pews of course! So, a little narrow space outside the cathedral was set up so one could test one’s breadth due to corseting. If you could not fit readily through this opening, then it was no go for you at the church service!
