Actor Dwayne Johnson Announces “Rock the Troops” Event in 2016

A Hollywood actor who doesn’t have an entitlement complex is quite a thing to see!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just announced that he will be using a considerable part of his time and resources in the next year to plan a special event to honor and entertain U.S. troops abroad. Inspired by Bob Hope’s USO shows for the troops back in the day, he’s planning a “Rock the Troops” for next Veteran’s Day.

From his statements at the announcement, his reasons for putting on the show are spot on:

It is so important to me to give back to the troops. I really want to create something special for our boys and girls who are overseas and hopefully we do such a good job that we can do it again and again. I have military in my family, some vets and two Navy SEALs. That was the genesis of that.

You get around these great men and women of the armed forces and you get instant perspective. I can have the life I have and the career I have because of what they do everyday. They ensure our way of life. We enjoy the freedoms we have because of the brave men and women who serve so the least we can do is give back. I anticipate a lot of my friends who are celebrities, in Hollywood, sports and music, to be a part of this epic event for our troops.

It’s so true that the lifestyle of “the rich and famous” is only made possible by those who sacrifice their safety and comfort to protect our country. All of us should show our gratitude in whatever way we can… and how great that someone with so many resources and connections wants to give them a show to remember!
