Adele says she found her purpose in motherhood, media predictably freaks out February 22, 2016

Grammy Award Winning Singer Adele has received almost unanimous praise for her heartbreaking songs.  (And rightfully so – she’s incredible!)

But her comments about motherhood left many heads swirling in the (mainly) liberal media.

In a recent interview for Vogue, Adele said, “When I became a parent, I felt like I was truly living. I had a purpose, where before I didn’t.”

In response many criticized her comments as being controversial, patronizing, and sexist.

Slate even tweeted:

Isn’t is a good thing that a mother would be excited and find great joy in her son or daughter?  How tragic would it be if she wasn’t excited about being a mother? How about instead of scrutinizing and taking offense at the things that bring meaning and purpose to someone’s life we celebrate with them that they have found such contentment?

Adele isn’t the only celebrity who thinks that motherhood is an incredibly life-giving event.  UFC Fighter Ronda Rousey recently admitted on the Ellen Show that it was the very thought of becoming a mother that kept her alive when she was having suicidal thoughts after her undefeated record was shattered with her first loss in the ring.

Being a mother to my two precious children is one of the greatest things I have ever had the privilege of doing in my entire life!!

I am so glad that Adele seems to have found the same joy in her little boy, and I hope that Ronda will get to experience all the blessings that come with motherhood one day as well!
