Kiss is an American staple and perhaps the most surprising not to perform. Trump has always had a larger-than-life persona and paired with Kiss’s explosive stage show would’ve been a match made in heaven. Plus, frontman Gene Simmons has been very vocal recently about celebrities whining too much about Trump’s election.

“I think celebrities should basically shut their pie hole and do what they do best: act, sing, tap dance, juggle balls, and do all that kind of stuff. And then do what an informed citizen does: draw the curtain, vote your conscience, go in there and vote,” Simmons recently said on Fox Business.

But the video below may be a clue that his wife and daughter have a little more say in the matter than he does:

But this is what’s great about America; You’re allowed to say no. And these A-listers declining the invitation has opened up a chance for someone who really needs it.

Jackie Evancho is a 16-year-old singer who was the breakout star on America’s Got Talent. She has agreed to perform and is slated to sing The Star Spangled Banner. And so far, that might be her best decision yet. According to MSN.com, Evancho’s record sales have skyrocketed since the announcement, despite critics who were sure this would ruin her career. Now, she can boast about being “the youngest solo artist to ever go platinum.”

“I’m so excited,” she said on the Today show. “It’s going to be awesome.”
