I can’t imagine why a 36-year-old woman is still getting foul comments from other adults about her weight, but unfortunately, it’s all too common.

An anonymous, handwritten letter was recently sent to Kelley Markland, a beautiful substitute teacher and mother of two, that said, “Women who weigh 300 pounds should not wear yoga pants!” It also contained a photocopied meme of Will Ferrell’s character in Anchorman telling her, “Your pants say yoga but your butt says McDonalds.”

This was devastating to receive in the mail for Markland who said she sat in her bathroom for over an hour crying. She had recently purchased some brightly colored “fun” leggings to make her feel better about her style, but somebody had to go and ruin it. Markland thinks it’s someone she knows personally.

“At 36 years old, I am STILL being made fun of. Whoever sent this, be an adult and tell me who you are,” she wrote on Facebook. “I have never pretended to be pretty or look good in clothing. I have never tried to be flashy or show off. Wearing my ‘fun’ leggings gave me a tad bit of confidence in not looking sloppy all the time … Thank you for making me feel like absolute, complete s–t.”

Markland told US Weekly that she has been enduring this kind of bullying since she was young:

“When I was growing up the kids called me ‘Kelley Jelly Belly.’ As an adult I have been mooed at while exercising or out walking.”

Can you imagine? I would be mortified.. and who does this? Really!

But then something happened that made Markland perk up. Yahoo! Style reports:

Markland is feeling empowered. “Several teachers from my kids’ school wore leggings to show their support,” she tells Us. “I was blown away.” And women have been posting body-positive stories and photos using the hashtag #LeggingsWin.

“The letter killed me inside and I still get upset by it,” says Markland, “but at the same time I have gained immense strength.”

I love it when somebody turns a negative into a positive! And good for her community for showing their support, too.

And for all the haters out there who just can’t seem to keep their mouths shut; if you’re doing something in secret, then you know whatever you’re doing is wrong. That’s why you’re hiding!

So, STOP IT!
