What kind of America are we living in when the outgoing president tells our soldiers to protest the authority of the incoming president?
President Obama gave his last speech to the U.S. Military on December 6 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida and told the soldiers they have a duty to question Donald Trump’s authority with his blessing. It’s “the foundation that we will leave for the next administration,” he said.
“Each of us has… the universal right to speak your minds and to protest against authority; to live in a society that’s open and free; that can criticize our president without retribution,” Obama said, as he explained the military’s mission of fighting against “violent extremism.”
I guess Trump qualifies for “violent extremism” in Obama’s mind. But why would our president encourage protesting authority?! Sure, it’s well within our rights but is implying the next president needs to be resisted by those who are risking their lives to protect that freedom the right call? Not that I’m surprised. Look at our society. There is NO respect for anyone in authority anymore. Not even from the president!
But there were several other worrisome things that Obama said during his address, as Breitbart noted. The president criticized the Second Amendment for adding to “violent extremism.”
“Somebody who is trying to kill and willing to be killed is dangerous, particularly when we live in a country where it’s very easy for that person to buy a very powerful weapon,” he said.
Obama also insisted that extremism is on the rise around the world because of climate change since it increases “competition for food and water.” Boy, he will bend over backward NOT to blame Islamic terrorism! In fact, he defended the violent religion during his speech saying America is not a war with Islam, even though they’ve declared war on us!
And then there’s that pesky First Amendment; President Obama implied there might be a little too much free speech shaping “impressionable minds” and said he has pushed policies to limit the “extremism” posted daily online.
So, let’s recap: Obama undermined the authority of the next president, doubts the protections of the First and Second Amendments and refuses to name the enemies of America (besides Donald Trump). And WE’RE the bad guys for questioning his true feelings about the United States?
