Yes, that’s the second time you read the same headline. No, it’s not a mistake. The exact thing happened in New York City — or didn’t happen.

Eighteen-year-old Yasmin Seweid claimed she was attacked on a New York City subway train by three angry white men shouting “Donald Trump.” Like the previous story, these men grabbed her hijab and shouted things like, “You f***ing terrorist! Get out of this country!” Seweid sold the story well. News outlets breathlessly quoted her after the “ordeal.”

“It made me really sad after when I thought about it,” the girl had said. “People were looking at me and looking at what was happening, and no one said a thing. They just looked away.”

But as the investigation was underway, the police were unable to locate the suspects and became suspicious when Seweid was reported missing and then found safe a day later. Police pressed harder against her story until she finally admitted she was lying.

Investigators learned that Seweid was having problems at home with her strict Muslim parents. She was dating a Christian boy at the time and she was worried about their reaction. Then, on the night she was NOT attacked, she was coming home past curfew and dreamed up the entire story so her parents wouldn’t punish her. They did anyway, making her shave her head — including eyebrows — for dishonoring them.

What’s more, Seweid’s brother has been in trouble with the law for filing false police reports for — guess what — being attacked by three unknown males. Lying to police runs in this family!
