I’m a sucker for all of these amazing stories out of Houston!  The Daily Mail reports:

Gospel singers broke out in song at a Texas convention center on Tuesday night as the performers tried to lift spirits after thousands were evacuated from their homes during Hurricane and Tropical Storm Harvey.

Victoria White, along with Marquist Taylor and several others, sang to evacuees at the Lone Star Expo Center in Conroe, Texas, north of Houston.

Massive flooding from Harvey forced thousands of rescues that overwhelmed emergency responders as convention centers, churches and even mattress stores opened their doors to people needing shelter during the storm.

Of course, this video went viral.  It’s such an inspiration to see people in crisis situations looking to a higher power for comfort.  In July, Carter Conlon from Times Square Church in New York City tweeted, “What looks to be a crisis can sometimes be an opportunity for God to show His power on behalf of His people.”

Though I wouldn’t wish this disaster on any person, I hope that God has become real to those who are suffering.  Here are some Bible verses that might provide comfort in these trying times:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18 NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Revelations 21:4

And, of course, the 23 Psalm:

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Looks like they were having church at the Lone Star Expo Center.
