After Ricky proposed, Willow – of course – said yes! This photo was taken just moments after he got up from when he popped the question. Have you ever wondered why men get down on one knee? Me too! The Sun provides some helpful details:
“As for the getting down on one knee thing, in truth the origin of the tradition is not known for sure.
“Historically a marriage was more of a business proposition (think Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice) though the action itself has been around for centuries.
“Catholics bent down on one knee as a sign of respect toward the tabernacle and knights did it before the king when being knighted in a show of honour.
“Equally, images from the Middle Ages show men on bended knee to courtly women they were devoted to.
“It’s generally deemed a sign of respect and surrender, which makes sense – the man bends on one knee in an act of humility before the woman he wishes to marry and acknowledges he’s surrendering his single life behind.”
Whatever the reason, I am so happy that Ricky decided to pop the question to Willow!
