Lectio Divina -Read as many times as you want, stop to reflect, share your thoughts if you would like are so inclined.

Here is my reflection:
I wonder what forgiveness is. We don’t always forget things that happen. Likewise, there will be times when we need to remove ourselves or others from unsafe situations. It would not be safe for you and your children to stay with an abusive spouse for example. I’m not advocating divorce, though perhaps a separation for your safety and the safety of your children. You can still have a Christian love for the abuser and most importantly pray for them and forgive them.

How can I expect God to forgive my sins, and we are all sinners; if I do not forgive those who have wronged me? Am I sorry for my sins? Have I forgiven everyone who sinned against me? Have I really? I think forgiveness is unconditional love. To me they go hand in hand. We forgive a child, but there are still consequences, natural ones and a parent’s lecture. I am a child of God. You are also.
