Writing Between the Worlds: Once Upon a Crone

Writing Between the Worlds: Once Upon a Crone March 1, 2024

“Crone” first arrived as a noun and verb during the Middle English period, 1150 – 1500. The writing of Margaret Paston includes ‘crone’ in 1462. The view of women at the time was divided, after all. Consider that Mary, mother of God, was revered, but women who were not aligned with the church were dangerous.

What meaning does crone hold today?

What defines a crone, and who sets the definition?

What stories are waiting to emerge from collective exploration?

This series of six classes will examine these questions and more, combining personal inquiry, storytelling, trance, and writing to explore the crone.

We imagine being guided and inspired by Baba Yaga, Strega Nona, The Dangerous Old Woman, and more to dive deep, find what emerges, and integrate what is true for each of us. There is no one definition of crone; there is only experience.

What wisdom do you seek?

What wisdom is seeking you?

Discovery and connection arrive in this creative space, time between time, where we write from the container of uncovering and knowing, sharing and being witnessed. No homework. No feedback. Just writing between the worlds. For what happens between the worlds changes and impacts all the worlds.
